The Livestock Department warns farmers to be on the lookout for anthrax after the first patient was found in Mukdahan. Initially, samples of dried meat and dried skin of pigs and cattle were collected for testing, along with recommendations for anthrax prevention in cattle, buffalo, goats and sheep. Today (1 May 2025), Veterinarian Boonnyakrit Pinprasong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, said that there has now been a report of a confirmed patient with anthrax in Don Tan District, Mukdahan Province. The patient was admitted for treatment at Don Tan Hospital and then transferred to Mukdahan Hospital with symptoms of a wound on his right hand and swollen lymph nodes in his right armpit.
